MDF VJ SHEETING- INSTALLATION GUIDE- A BRIEF
OVERVIEW.
- Sheets should be delivered to sites a minimum 48 hours prior
to installation. This is to allow the sheets to acclimatize to
their site conditions.
- The backs of all ceiling sheets and sheets adjacent to wet
rooms or adjacent to external walls should be paint-sealed
prior to installation.
- Sheets should be kept a minimum 10mm clear of floors and
ceilings.
- Sheets should be fixed to timber-framed walls with stud
spacings at 450mm maximum.
- Where a sheet join does not coincide with a stud, extra
horizontal noggings must be installed at 600mm maximum centres.
- Adhesive must be used in conjunction with nails.
- We recommend BOSTIK wallboard & flooring adhesive.
- Cartridge adhesive should be applied using a continuous
6mm bead down studs and along plates and noggings.
- Allow one 320g cartridge per sheet.
- When fitting sheets, use the male tongue as your leading edge.
The next sheets female edge interlocks, making installation
easier.
- Once the first sheet has been plumbed and fixed, fix the next
sheet using a floor-clearance block adjacent to the male tongue of
the previous sheet. Pin the sheet in this bottom corner. Align the
sheet join working from the bottom upwards, until the join is
satisfactory.
- Face-nail sheets at 600mm down studs and 300mm along plates
and noggings. Ceiling sheets should be fixed to battens at 400mm
maximum centres. Use adhesive as for wall sheets. Ceiling batten
nails should be used in a cross-hatched pattern at 300mm centres
along the battens.
- Correct application of paint systems will ensure good
service-life of our products- It is important to remove all dust
etc. from the "V' and "Beads" to ensure a satisfactory finish in
these areas.
- We recommend the use of Taubmans "3 in I", sealer, primer,
undercoat. The top coats applied as per manufacturers
specifications.
